These fish varieties need a freshwater environment with the temperature ranging from 64 degree Fahrenheit to 82 degree Fahrenheit.
Features
The Tetra fish breed is a small, nonviolent variety of fish that has a maximum body length of three inches. These fish breeds have a bright colored body and they perform well in captivity. They have a number of bones that join the swim bladder and inner ear, which improves the hearing capability of these multicolored fish. They are energetic schooling fish that perform well in the nonviolent community aquarium. They perform well in a richly-planted aquarium with reasonable lighting.
This fish variety is ideal to maintain with six or additional fish of the same variety in the aquarium. Several dissimilar schools of tetra breeds can be bred in the aquarium, offering an exceptional display of color. Other varieties, such as the Cardinal Tetra and Neon Tetra are among the most admired tank companions of this fish variety, appending a touch of brightness and social communication to the community aquarium. Usually, these fish breeds gather in huge schools and live in muddy waters with thick vegetation in the wild.
Diet
Tetra fish varieties are omnivorous and they feed on the living prey in the wild. In the captive, they are fed with meaty foods and pellet foods, like Spirulina flakes. However, Daphnia Pulex, white worms and Dropsilia fruit flies are the favorite foods of these toothed fish.
The average lifespan of the Tetra fish breed ranges from 5 years to 10 years.
