Rhode Island, with the postal abbreviation RI is one among the 50 states in the United States, situated in the New England part of the country. Rhode Island is surrounded by Massachusetts in the north and east, Connecticut in the west and the state shares a water border with the Long Island of New York to the southwest.
Rhode Island was the earliest of the unique thirteen settlements to declare freedom from the British rule.
