Pennant Bannerfish

Facts about the Pennant Bannerfish, it is known by different names such as Threeband Pennant Butterflyfish, Coralfish, Threadbanded Bullfish, Bannerfish, and so much more. Just like most aquarium fish, the Pennant Bannerfish can be found in the Indo-Pacific region. The Pennant Bannerfish fish has been found to grow up to 25 cm, however, the average size of the adult stands at 15 cm. Most of the other fish do not have the ability to feed on very tiny algae due to their teeth structure. The Pennant Bannerfish has hair-like teeth that help it trap the minutest elements in its environment for feeding. This enables the Pennant Bannerfish to survive in virtually any place where it finds itself.

The feeding pattern of the Pennant Bannerfish is not complex. The Pennant Bannerfish can feed on tentacles of featherdusters, Christmas-tree worms, and Coral polyps. It requires constant feeding in order to thrive in any tank where you breed it. The important indices that make it a unique fish is that it does not grow beyond a defined size despite its feeding habit. Also, it has the ability to fight off various diseases when it is well fed. Furthermore, the Pennant Bannerfish is quite similar in mannerism to Angel fish. This makes it easy to understand how to care for these fishes.

Their Pectoral fins enable them to make unique moves that would make any fish admirer shout for joy. The Pennant Bannerfish can sprint, reverse, and brake depending on what they are trying to achieve. Another interesting feature is that the Pennant Bannerfish can remain motionless till they get to the point where they want to feed. This unique body design makes it to be able to thrive in its natural habitat or in the tank. Beyond the fact that this fish does not break down easily due to its hardy nature; it is also found to do well if it is kept singly or in pairs.

The Pennant Bannerfish is quite compatible with other Marine animals and this makes it a good fit for most tanks. It has been observed that the Pennant Bannerfish can do well with Shrimps, Snails, and Crabs. This might sound strange to many because these animals might seem to be harmful to each other’s existence. It is a known fact this fish is quite peaceful in every community where it finds itself. The same rule that applies to other species of fish also comes to play in this range. It has been observed to be aggressive with other members of its specie when they are introduced into a tank.

The Pennant Bannerfish also shares similarities with another fish called the Moorish idol. However, most tank owners have found it quite challenging to train the Moorish idol. In most cases, the Pennant Bannerfish is seen as a cheap alternative to this other breed of fish. Furthermore, recent studies have shown that there is no threat to the population of this fish. This makes it quite handy to be harvested for use in the aquarium. Generally, the Pennant Bannerfish is quite ideal to keep if you are someone who does not want to have a large tank.
