The Penelope lotus plant is a fragrant aquatic plant that does well in hardy zones that are four to eleven. However, during the winter seasons, they can perform well in hardy zones below four to eleven. This beautiful plant is a free blooming plant which has blossoms that grows to a height of two to three feet tall. Its blossoms have semi double flowers that are about four inches.
The Penelope lotus plant has broad blooms which are stark white with bluish green leaves. Its leaves can span sixteen to twenty three inches. Its flowers can be approximately nine to twelve inches wide.
The fragrant Penelope plant can grow for about four to six feet with full sunlight requirements. This type of plant can be established in both medium and small sized ponds as they require a small spread. Due to its small spread, it can be of good choice for containers and small water gardens.
The snow blossom whitish lotus plant can be established in can be considered to be a true bowl lotus. This is because the plant can do so well even when it is not established in a pond. Containers for planting the Penelope lotus plant can vary depending on the gardener’s choice. This is because unlike other lotus plants that require huge gallons, the Penelope plant doesn’t require a bigger environment for it to be established.
The Penelope lotus plant when established in a small container garden, it requires well drained soils. In addition, it has to be placed in an environment in which it receives full sun light to slight shade
Even though the Penelope lotus plant may be able to grow so well in winter with hardy zones four to eleven, it can be a hassle than its worth as they require full sun. This type of plant is easily affordable and can grow very fast especially during summer. It is cost effective and easier to buy new ones each spring.
