Wessex Saddleback is a domestic pig breed that is native to Wessex, which is an Anglo-Saxon realm in the southern part of the Great Britain. The Wessex Saddleback pigs are largely found in a county in South West England, known as Wiltshire and the New Forest region of Hampshire. The Wessex Saddleback pig breed is black in color, with white front quarters. The Wessex Saddleback pig breed was amalgamated in Britain with the Essex pig breed to develop the British Saddleback pig breed, and currently, it is wiped out as a separate pig breed in Britain. However, the Wessex Saddleback pig breeds survive in New Zealand and Australia.
British Saddleback
British Saddleback is a domestic pig breed which was created from the combination of two similarly-colored pig breeds, such as the Essex Saddleback pig breed and the Wessex Saddleback pig breed during the twentieth century. The British Saddleback pig breeds were mostly found in an area of the Northern Ireland and the United Kingdom of Great Britain, called East Anglia. The British Saddleback pigs have a black color head and neck, and a visibly defined white color belt, extending over their shoulders and continuing over their forelegs. The remaining parts of their body are black in color with the exclusion of white feet and the tail tip.

Wessex Saddleback
There is some puzzlement regarding the origin of the Wessex Saddleback pig breed. Some resources affirm that it started as a cross of the Old English Sheeted breed and the New Forest black breed, scattering through the Isle of Purbeck and Hampshire during the 18th century. However, some other resources just say that this pig breed is of unidentified origin. The Wessex Saddleback pig breed has been declared to be one among the few British pig breeds to have been slightly affected by hybriding with the Neapolitan pig breeds of Far Eastern derivation, and so, it is possibly one among those contiguous to the Landrace pig breeds that foraged in the forest all through Britain for several centuries.
British Saddleback
The source of the British Saddleback pig breed is better genuine than most. A British Whig politician and the landowner, Lord Western, while touring in Italy, saw a few Neapolitan pigs and concluded that they were just what he required to develop the British Saddleback pig breeds. Wessex Saddleback
