The Nissan Titan is a life-size pickup automobile, designed and constructed by Nissan Motors in America for the North American automotive market. The Nissan Titan was introduced in 2003 with the F-Alpha platform of Nissan. The Nissan Titan shares its platform with two sport utility vehicles, such as the Infiniti QX56 and the Nissan Armada. These two SUVs are based on the Titan with the entire three constructed in Canton, Mississippi in the United States.
The construction work of the Nisan Titan was started during September 1999, with the commencement of the design work during 2000 under the designer, Diane Allen. The TA60 exterior of Giovanny Arroba was chosen during the late 2000, with a final manufacture freeze during July 2001. The design lingo of the future Nissan Titan truck was previewed by the 2001 model Alpha T concept displayed at the Auto Show in Detroit in 2001, which had already developed through 2000 November. Production of first generation Nissan Titan was commenced on the 21st of September 2003 and the Nissan Titan was released for sale on the 1st of December 2003.
All models of the Nissan Titan come standard with a 5.6-litre, 32-valve VK56DE engine, which is capable of producing a maximum power of 317 HP and a torque of 385 lbs per foot (522 Nm). The Nissan Titan comes with a completely boxed ladder structure and it is available in either four-wheel-drive or a rear-wheel drive system, paired with a five-paced RE505A automatic transmission. All models of the Titan are also equipped with an ABLS (Automatic Brake-Limited Slip).
The Nissan Titan comes as a crew cab or a king cab with a full-scale rear seat. The king cab is designed with a 6.7-feet (2.01 m) bed, whereas the crew cab comes with a 5.7-feet (1.70 m) or 7.3-feet (2.21 m) bed. At first, the Nissan Titan was introduced in four trim levels, such as the SV, S, LE and Pro-4x. The LE and SE trim levels have since been restored by the luxury SL model. The S trim is a base model, whereas the SV trim is a mid-level mock-up with a lot of features. The PRO-4X model of the Nissan Titan is an off-road-oriented edition, whereas the SL is the top level, which is crammed with high-end comfortable features, in addition to 20-inch alloy wheels as a standard feature.
The second generation of the Nissan Titan, which was designed in California, was introduced as the 2016 model year vehicle. The Nissan Titan was engineered in Michigan and assembled in Mississippi, whereas its engine was constructed in Tennessee and Indiana.
Cummins has joined with Nissan and has declared that the next generation Nissan Titan will be equipped with a V8, 5.0-litre turbo diesel Cummins engine, which is called as the ISV engine. This engine is designed to produce the required power of 310 HP (230 kW) and a torque of 555 lbs per foot (752 Nm). The ISV engine will be constructed in Columbus in Indiana, and it will have a different adaptation of the engine for commercial automobiles.
The current Nissan Titan will come in two forms, such as XD and regular, such that the XD form will first be released for sale. The XD form will be constructed on a heavy-duty structure derived from the commercial vehicle line up of Nissan and it will be equipped with the optional Cummins diesel engine.
