Category: Nissan
The Nissan GT-R is a sports car made by Nissan. The Nissan GT-R is sometimes called the Nissan GT-R supercar or “Godzillaâ€.
History
The Nissan GT-R first came out in 2009. The first model year had only the base trim level and a Premium trim level. In 2011, the base trim level was eliminated, so that the Premium version became the new base level. The Track Edition came out in 2014 in limited numbers before becoming a standard trim level in 2015.
Design
While it is theoretically a two door, 4 seat car, the back seats in the Nissan GT-R are very small. The Nissan GT-R is a sports car that has a few sedan like design features.
There are several configurations of the Nissan GT-R. The base model is called the Premium. The next edition is the “Black Editionâ€. The next configuration in price is the “Track Editionâ€. The most expensive configuration is the “NISMOâ€. NISMO stands for Nissan Motorsports. There are several other “NISMO†models by Nissan, such as the Nissan Juke NISMO, Nissan Sentra NISMO, model and 370Z NISMO, though the GT-R is the fastest and most powerful.
The basic Premium edition has an electronically adjustable suspension, adaptive headlights, heated front seats, power adjustable seats, keyless ignition, Brembo brakes, 545 horsepower engine, a Bose audio system, Bluetooth connectivity, streaming audio, and iPod connectivity. The 2015 model year added much better noise dampening for the cabin. The next trim level, the Black Edition, brings a carbon fiber rear wing ala racing car designs, a red interior trim, dark headliner, and Recaro seats. The Track edition has brake cooling ducts, sport front seats, and an even better suspension system. The brake cooling ducts are installed on race cars so that the brakes do not overheat and fail during racing. The NISMO version has a stiffer suspension, more powerful 600 horsepower engine, 18 more pound-feet of torque, three separate damper modes, and a few more upgrades to the interior.
All models have a six speed manual gear box. The Nissan GT-R goes zero to sixty in just under three seconds, and it has a top speed of 191 miles per hour. The Nissan GT-R weighs around 3,800 pounds.
Performance
The engine in the Nissan GT-R gets from 545 to 600 horsepower. The Nissan GT-R gets 16 miles per gallon in the city and 23 miles per gallon on the highway.
There was a 2015 recall for the Nissan GT-R for problems in the 2009 model vehicles. The first model year of the GT-R had a control system that overstressed the transaxle, as well. That issue was resolved in 2009. There were no NHTSA Technical Service Bulletins for the 2012 model year, but there were 30 for the 2009 model year, 23 for the 2010, and 2011 model years and 6 NHTSA Technical Service Bulletins or TSB for the 2013 model year.
