Design of Mini Convertible car
The Mini Convertible is a drop top version of the Mini Cooper hardtop. The Mini Convertible shares the same broad, squat body of the modern Mini car, built on a BMW platform.
The Mini convertible is available in three models: the Cooper, the Cooper S, and the John Cooper Works or JCW. The basic Cooper has a 1.6 liter four cylinder in-line 121 horsepower motor, capable of generating 118 pound-feet of torque. The Mini Convertible also has power steering, power windows, tire pressure monitoring system, stability control system, climate controlled glove box, remote entry, trunk release, anti-lock brakes, dual front air bags, a six speaker audio system, MP3 compatible sound system, auxiliary connection, air conditioning, and Bluetooth connectivity.
The Cooper S has a more powerful 1.6 liter four cylinder 181 horsepower motor that can generate 177 lb-ft of torque. The S trim line adds fog lamps and sport seats and larger wheels.
The JCW has the most powerful engine, a 208 horsepower one that can generate 192 lb-ft of torque. It also has better traction control, sports exhaust and larger Brembo brakes.
The standard vehicle comes with a six speed manual transmission. An automatic transmission is available.
In the 2015 model year, the manufacturer added rain sensing wipers and automatic climate control to the standard package.
The Mini Convertible is small, with seating for four if cramped and limited cargo space. The Mini convertible has three modes, up, down, and a half way level that can act as a sun shade while letting the wind in your hair.
Performance of Mini Convertible car
The basic Mini Cooper Convertible gets 27 miles per gallon in the city and 35 miles per gallon on the highway. The Cooper S gets similar gas mileage, but loses a mile per gallon with the automatic transmission.
The JCW version gets 26 miles per gallon in the city and 34 miles per gallon on the highway. It has a top speed of 143 miles per hour and goes 0 to 60 in 6.4 seconds.
The IIHS rated the Mini Cooper as having a Good rating in frontal offset and rear impact crash tests.

Rivals to the Mini Convertible include the Ford Fiesta ST, Volkswagen Beetle, Volkswagen GTI, Subaru WRX, Mazda MX-5 Miata, and Ford Focus ST. If you are only looking at comparably priced convertibles, the Fiat 500C is the only convertible close in price. If you want a similarly equipped convertible, the Ford Mustang convertible with a drop-top and Chevy Camaro convertible are also options.
