Category: Jeep
The Jeep Patriot is a four-door compact crossover sport utility vehicle introduced by Chrysler, an American automaker in early 2007. The Jeep Patriot made its first appearance in the 2006 New York Auto Show during the month of April together with the Jeep Compass, which was constructed with the same MK platform. The traditional styled Jeep Patriot is marketed towards men, whereas the contemporary styled Jeep Compass is marked towards women. Since introduction, the Jeep Patriot still remains to be one among the lowest priced sport utility vehicle -styled crossovers in North America.
Design of Jeep Patriot
The Jeep Patriot is derived from the DaimlerChrysler or Mitsubishi GS platform. The Jeep Patriot is a conventional four-door Jeep wagon that was discontinued during 2001 in the United States. The Jeep Patriot is constructed at the assembly plant of Chrysler in the Belvidere County in Illinois.
The U.S. version of the Jeep Patriot is equipped with either the 2.0-liter or 2.4-liter World petrol Inline-4 engine and it was offered in both four-wheel drive and front-wheel drive modes. The Jeep Patriot features two all-wheel drive systems, both of which are controlled by electronic means. The basic all-wheel drive system, which is known as Freedom Drive I, is a permanent front-wheel-drive based four-wheel drive or all-wheel drive system, which is front-wheel-drive when it has the grip, but can put a maximum of 20 % to 30% power to the back wheels automatically, or it can be locked in 50-50 below a particular velocity.
The other drive system, which is known as the Freedom Drive II, is derived from the Freedom Drive I system, but by using the continuously variable transmission of the vehicle, it is competent to a 19:1 gear decrease, simulating a low-range, generally found in vehicles with committed transfer cases.
For Australia and Europe, the Jeep Patriot is equipped with a 140 PS, 2.0-liter diesel engine, manufactured by Volkswagen, together with a six-speed manual transmission. All European Union vehicles come with all-wheel drive and the Freedom Drive System as standard that tuned in a different way from the United States versions, but with similar potential to Freedom Drive System II with three switchable electronic stability control and brake traction control settings for the on or off-road application.
