Iowa

Iowa, which is shortly mentioned as IA, is one of the 50 states of the United States, situated in the Midwestern part of the United States. It is surrounded by the Mississippi River in the east, the Big Sioux River and the Missouri River on the west, and in the south, the state is separated by the Ohio River from Kentucky. The state is bordered by the counties, such as Illinois and Wisconsin in the east, South Dakota and Nebraska in the west, Minnesota in the north and Missouri to the south. Iowa is the only state in the United States, who’s western and eastern borders are formed wholly by rivers. Iowa is the 30th most populous and the 26th most extensive state in land area among the 50 states in the United States.

Iowa was the 29th state admitted to the union on the 28th of December 1846. The total land area of Iowa is 56,273 square miles, which offers the state an area rank of 26 out of the available 50 states in the United States. In addition, water surface occupies 415 square miles of the total area of the state within its boundaries. There are 99 counties in Iowa among which the Humboldt County was recently formed in the state on the 26th of February 1857.
