Hanoverian Horse is a warmblooded breed being a highbred of light and heavy horse. The Hanoverian Horse is definitely one of the oldest warmblooded available today and originated from Germany. The Hanoverian Horse were originally bred as carriage horse, the infusion of Throughbred blood made the resulting offspring lighter and more agile, eventually making the Hanoverian Horse to be used for competitions. The Hanoverian Horse are common in the Olympic Games including other competitive English riding competition; the Hanoverian Horse has been able to win gold medals in all the three equestrian Olympic competitions.
Physical Description
Hanoverian Horse is a light horse breed which generally weighs just less than 1,500 pounds. The Hanoverian Horse are strong, elegant and roust. Color coat varies from bay to gray to black to chestnut. The Hanoverian Horse stand at an average of 15 to 16 hands (60" to 64" inches, 158 to 172 cm) high. Average weight is between 1100 to 1200 pounds (498 to 544 kg). The Hanoverian Horse have a light and medium-sized head with long neck. The Hanoverian Horse also have big sloping shoulders. Hanoverian Horses are somewhat muscular with flat croup and very powerful limbs.
Characteristics
Hanoverian Horses are mildly temperamental; they are calmer in nature than many other horse breeds. The Hanoverian Horse are willing, sensible, bold and very intelligent.
Care and Feeding
Hanoverian Horse are quite massive in size compared to the other breeds, this makes the Hanoverian Horse require larger amount of feed. You need to supply substantial amount of feed daily. Water is very important to animals particularly horses, it is important to ensure you provide plenty of clean and fresh water to the Hanoverian Horse on a daily basis.
The Hanoverian Horse hooves will definitely need to be fitted with the proper horse shoes and should be changed after a while, 2 to 3 months works best but it solely depends on the growth speed of the Horse so it is a wise idea to do regular check up on your Hanoverian Horse mostly if they are often used on long distance rides.
Health Issues
Often the Hanoverian Horse breed of horse have excellent health. There is exists a Disease known as Osteochondrosis which can affects bone and cartilage in joints of a growing horse. Osteochondrosis will also contribute to the Navicular syndrome and the Wobbler disease. This can mean the end of the horse’s carrier.
