Facts about Bulldog, "Scientific name for Bulldog, or domestic canine, is Canis lupus familiaris". The Bulldog is an average-sized dog breed that is native to England in the United Kingdom. The Bulldogs are commonly called as the British Bulldog or the English bulldog. The Bulldog breeds are the fifth most admired pedigrees in the United States during 2013.
Features
The Bulldog is a well-built, weighty dog with a crinkled face and a unique pushed-in nose. Usually, the male bull dog has a body weight that ranges from 45 lbs to 55 lbs (20.4 kg to 25 kg), whereas the female dogs have a maximum body weight of 45 lbs (20.4 kg). The Bulldog breeds have a characteristic broad head and shoulders, together with a marked mandibular prognathism. The prognathism is the positional association of the mandible and, or maxilla to the skinny base where any of the jaws of the dog protrudes further than a prearranged imaginary row in the coronal level surface of the head.
Generally, these are thick skin folds on the brow of the Bulldog and their eyes are round in shape, black in color, and they are wide-set. The Bulldog have a short muzzle with quality folds, referred to as a knot on top of their nose. The Bulldogs have the suspending skin beneath the neck, and have sharp teeth, drooping lips and rarely an under-bite. The coat of the Bulldog breed is short, even, and smooth and they appear in the colors of fawn, red, white, piebald and brindle. The Bulldogs are one among the few dog breeds that have a natural short tail. The tail of the Bulldogs is either twisted or straight and so it is not docked or cut like with some other dog breeds.
Bulldogs pant to keep cool with 10 to 35 breaths per minute with an average of 24 breaths per minute. A large dog breed resting heart beats between 60 to 100 times per minute, and a small dog breed’s heart beats on average between 100 to 140 and they will pant a lot.
A Bulldog’s mouth can apply approximately 150 to 200 pounds of pressure per square inch and an American Pit Bull Terrier, German Shepherd Dog and a rottweiler can have 320 LBS of pressure on avg.
Bulldogs boast extremely small nasal holes and so they have great complexity in maintaining their bodies cool. The Bulldog are extremely sensitive to heat, so additional caution is supposed to be practiced during warmer climates and in summer months.
